Development Pathway Elements
What to expect from the process
Player periodization is broken into 12 week cycles. Each cycle begins with an assessment of current and past levels of performance while evaluating and adjusting the training plans and desired outcomes of the next development cycle.
Meetings will use data and metrics from match video analysis, physical assessment and feedback from coaches.
This is an individualized solution based on the player’s desired outcomes and long term goals. We set S.M.A.R.T goals and monitor progress by delivering feedback and adjustments throughout.
Training plans include solutions to enhance:
- Physical Performance Output
- Position Specific Understanding and Proficiencies
- Tactical and Self Evaluation Through Match Analysis
- Technical Efficiency Training
We help instill good habits. Our players understand what it takes to reach peak training levels and thus be able to consistently perform and be impactful in matches.
We use wearables and dietary guides to help players become more responsible when making decisions about:
- Fueling and hydration before and after training and matches
- Optimal sleep habits
- Training using HRM to enhance anaerobic and aerobic outputs while preserving healthy training loads
- Proper routines for activation before exercise and cooling down and regeneration after
Player Assessment
How we evaluate a player's levels of performance
Players can only play 90 min at peak levels if they are prepared to demonstrate the required anaerobic and aerobic demands.
The higher the level of competition, the higher the demands.
Our athletes are tested each cycle and are guided through a training process that enables them to be in the top percentile. Here are what our tests record and analyze.
- VO2 Max
- Power output
- Speed
- Agility and acceleration
Execution under pressure is the most important ingredient for success. Increase the pressure and the technique needs to become engrained in muscle memory.
We help identify the most vital technical aspect of each position and help test current levels of proficiencies.
- Passing accuracy
- Passing range
- Dribbling acceleration and speed
- Finishing surfaces and accuracy
- Defensive footwork and tackling
- Aerial timing and heading
Video analysis has become a vital evaluation and teaching tool. Almost every game is now available to watch and analyze. This leads to a confusing number of clips and data without any actionable information.
Our approach is to focus on 3 main elements whenever we analyze a clip:
- Trigger: what was the cue that lead to the action?
- Decision: How did the player react to the trigger?
- Pattern: Did the player execute the right action individually and was the action part of the collective team pattern?
Physical Assessment
Can you play the full 90
We use the Nike Sparq version of the Yo-yo intermittent recovery test to determine the level of anaerobic fitness and determine an approximation of the player’s VO2 Max
Female athletes use level 1
Male athletes use level 2
We use laser gates to determine the players level of explosive speed
We measure the time it takes them to cover 20 meters.
We use laser gates to determine the players level of agility, acceleration and ability to change directions.
We use the arrowhead test
We measure explosive power with vertical jump mats.
